Abstract

This article provides information on the current production in the Karaganda branch of the RSE «KazStandard» of reference hardness blocks, brief information on the state of production of hardness blocks in the world and research conducted at this institute while improving manufacturing technology. Hardness test blocks are designed to reproduce the hardness of metals according to standardized hardness scales, for example, [1], [2], [3], [4]. Reference hardness test blocks are made in accordance with [5] from carbon and alloy steels, have a rectangular or round shape. Reference hardness test blocks in accordance with the law «On Ensuring the Uniformity of Measurements in the Republic of Kazakhstan» are calibrated. However, in some cases, if necessary, the user verifies them. Primary and periodic verification of measures is carried out by metrological service bodies accredited for the right to verify hardness measuring instruments. The calibration interval is 2 years [6].
